Friendship Cemetery Guidelines 2012
In order to aid in the perpetual care of the cemetery and preserve the decorum of this resting site, it has been decided by the executive board of Friendship Cemetery to place specific guidelines as to the appearance of grave sites. A printable copy of these guidelines are available here. Guidelines.pdf
1. In choosing an appropriate headstone, please remember the base should not be wider than 3 1/2 feet wide for one space and 7 1/2 feet wide for a two space lot. It is the family's responsibility to maintain the stonework. The monument company of your choice will assist in maintaining the integrity of the stone. Please contact Louis Groner when the headstone is to be installed.
2. NEW SECTION: A liner or vault is required in the new section. Details are available through local funeral homes.
3. No new curbs will be allowed as of March 2010. No lot or piece of ground will be defined from this time on by any railing of stone, cement, wood, wirework or other material. New curbs will be removed at the owner's expense.
4. No more corner markers will be permitted.
5. For the safety of all concerned, glass or ceramic containers and solar lights will not be permitted.
6. From April to March, appropriate floral designs may be left at the gravesite in cement, stone or tin containers. Such containers would keep arrangements out of the grass, aiding those striving to keep up the appearance of the cemetery. All flowers and wreaths will be removed when they become faded, unsightly or out of season. Pinwheels, statues and other yard art will no longer be permitted; this includes scarecrows and balloons.
7. Volunteers will begin removing winter decorations in February. There will be a spring clean-up. Any items you would like to keep must be picked up by March 1st.
8. Trees and shrubs will be planted by the Friendship Cemetery Association only.
9. Benches are allowed, but they must be made of stone or solid metal. The purchase of additional space is required if the bench is not to be placed on your purchased spaces.
10. Prior to burial, decorations on adjacent graves may be removed temporarily for reasons of dignity and safety. Broken or unsightly items will not be returned.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW, no one is to be in the cemetery after sundown.
